Film Academy

Film Academy - a creative film making project for people with learning disabilities.

Film Academy is long-term film making project that will enable groups of adults with learning difficulties to become empowered storytellers, filmmakers and actors. Film Academy will build opportunities for students to take part equally in the culture of film.

JUMPcuts will work with a group of 10 students over an initial pilot year. Within that time they will all make their own individual short films. This will then lead to the devising of a group story and the production of a highly crafted longer film. All this work will be free from an imposed agenda and will be a direct reflection of the interest of the students themselves. Both the short films and the longer 'epic' will be eligible to be entered into national and international film festivals.

JUMPcuts have been forging strong links with Bridgwater College; Film Academy will be incorporated in to their curriculum after the initial pilot year. Film Academy is starting in Autumn 2009.

Our Vision

At JUMPcuts we are committed to an inclusive and collaborative approach to making media. We recognise that everyone benefits from this approach. Building capacity among our learning disabled communities is building capacity for us all.
